Create your first
free-shipping offer.

  1. Create an offer

In Shopify admin, open Free Shipping A/B. Open Offers and choose to create an offer. Give it an internal name you will recognize, such as "Standard shipping offer".

In Target markets, choose All markets or specific Shopify Markets. Then open Overview, select Free shipping threshold, and enter the qualifying amount. This example uses a $75 threshold in the shop currency.

Use one market for your first setup if that makes verification easier. A selected-market offer takes precedence over an All markets offer.

Set the qualifying amount. Current Overview
screen. Thresholds are edited in the shop currency.

  2. Write the shopper messages

Open Messaging & localization. Review the message before a shopper adds anything, the amount remaining as their cart grows, and the message once they qualify.

Write each part of the message. Current
editor capture. Initial, progress, and success messages show live
          examples beside the input fields.

For a $75 threshold, a $50 eligible cart should show $25 remaining. Check the currency and language for your selected market.

  3. Choose a placement and preview

Open Placement & design. Enable the top banner, cart drawer, or cart summary where you want the message to appear. Adjust the styling to keep the text readable against its background.

Use both desktop and mobile previews. Check every enabled placement, including long messages and your selected currency. The captures below show the current placement controls and mobile preview.

editor capture with the top banner enabled. Cart drawer and cart
          summary placements are optional.

    Check a mobile cart in
preview. Current app preview with a $42 cart, a $75 threshold, and $33
remaining. This is a preview, not a live storefront capture.

Use the live mobile check in step 5 as well. A desktop screenshot does not replace testing your own store on a phone.

  4. Publish when the offer is ready

Save a draft if you still need to make changes. A draft stays off the storefront. When the market, threshold, and messages are ready, choose to publish and resolve any targeting conflicts or readiness guidance shown in the app.

If prompted, enable the app embed in your active theme and save the theme. Return to Offers to check the offer's state.

Check the offer state. Current library
capture. A live offer and a saved draft appear separately; the draft
          stays off the storefront.

You do not need a scheduled promotion for this setup. Campaigns are a separate option for published offers.

  5. Check your live storefront

Open your store in the selected market. Add a product and check the message, then change the cart amount across your threshold. Repeat on a phone.

    • Below $75, the message shows the remaining eligible amount.
    • At the threshold, the message says free shipping is unlocked.
    • The message remains readable in every enabled placement.
    • Checkout shipping eligibility agrees with the offer for the intended destination.

If the bar is missing, check that the offer is published, its placement and theme app embed are enabled, and the current market matches. Reload the storefront to rule out an older cached version. Email support if it still does not appear.
